$575,000 Pierro Colt a Premier Highlight
The final session of the 2020 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Book One in Melbourne on Monday was topped by a quality colt that sold for $575,000 by Golden Slipper winner Pierro, who was the leading sire at the sale by aggregate.
Consigned by Blue Gum Farm, the colt from Pass the Parcel was bought by First Light Racing / Busuttin Racing / Paul Willetts Bloodstock and was the second highest priced yearling for the entire sale.
First Light Racing’s Ash Dowley was excited with his purchase.
“He is a colt that when we first looked at him, myself and Paul Willetts, we saw him for 60 seconds and asked for him to be put away and then whispered to each other that we thought this was the best colt we’d seen all year. We were so blown away by this colt,’’ Dowley said.
“On type he is perfectly conformed and he is a big strong colt with a big girth and big hind-quarter.
“We expected him to make that much and we knew we would have to be pretty strong on him. We did go two bids over what we initially thought but we loved him that much and didn’t want to go home without him.’’
He is a half-brother to Group II placed three year-old Express Pass and is the fourth foal of More Than Ready mare Pass the Parcel, who comes from the family of Group I winners Kementari and Sterling City.
Pierro had 13 yearlings sell at Oaklands at an average $170,000 and was the leading sire by aggregate with his stock generating $2,210,000.
The Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale Sale next month will feature 16 youngsters by Pierro and you can see them here.
