$600,000 for Pierro Colt
The Hong Kong Jockey Club made their first purchase of the year at Magic Millions on day one paying $600,000 for an outstanding colt by Pierro.
Consigned by Coolmore, the colt is the first foal of Group III placed Fastnet Rock mare Miss Que, a sister to Group II winning sire Cluster from stakes-winner Tarcoola Diamond.
“He’s out of a Group III placed mare by the excellent broodmare sire Fastnet Rock,” said Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock, who purchases for HKJC.
“With a deep girth and a strong shoulder, he'll be well suited for Hong Kong conditions.”
Pierro has sired 11 winners in Hong Kong including the Hong Kong Derby winner Furore and smart sprinter Rewarding Together, who was second in the Group III Bauhinia Sprint Trophy last Sunday.
Miss Que produced a filly last spring by Wootton Bassett and was then covered by So You Think.
