$740,000 Mare in Foal to Fastnet

Tom Magnier continued his buying spree at the 2012 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Tuesday, his most expensive purchase the young stakes-winner Defiant Dame for $740,000. Consigned by Evergreen Stud, Defiant Dame won the Listed AJC Gimcrack Stakes on debut at two and is from the family of Group I winner Shellscrape and his Group I placed sister Red Tracer. She was offered in foal to Fastnet Rock in her first season at stud on an early cover. "She is by More Than Ready and is in foal to Fastnet Rock, so she's an attractive package," Tom Magnier said. "As well she is a great looking mare and we're thrilled to have added her to the quality Coolmore broodmare band. "She will be foaled down and will return to Fastnet Rock this spring - in fact you can say she will be married to him!"
