$750,000 for Fastnet Rock Colt at Karaka
A stunning colt by champion sire Fastnet Rock from Frustrating was among the top sellers during the first session of the 2017 NZB Premier Yearling Sale on Monday when fetching $750,000.
Consigned by Curraghmore Stud, the handsome bay was snapped up by BBA, Ireland and is from a daughter of NZ Broodmare of the Year Parfore, who has left five stakes-winners headed by Group I winners Terravista and Tiger Tees as well as Singapore Horse of the Year, Super Easy.
“I think it’s fairly obvious that if he can perform with distinction on the track his future would lie in the breeding barn,” said Adrian Niccoll, of BBA Ireland.
“His dam produces high class racetrack performers and he is by a champion sire so he has a lot going for him. He is a very athletic type who looks like he will be able to run so I’m pleased to be taking him home.
“I’ve bought him for a group of existing clients and he will head to Australia for his immediate future.”
