Another G1 Placing for Vancouver Filly
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained filly Vangelic (3f Vancouver x Angel Bee, by Pins) is sadly overdue to win a stakes race after posting her second Group I placing at Randwick on Saturday.
The three year-old daughter of Vancouver was having her second run back from a spell and defeated all bar Forbidden Love in the Group I ATC Surround Stakes (1400m) at her second run back from a spell.
Her regular rider Tim Clark partnered Vangelic, who briefly hit the front before being swept aside by the eventual winner, but she stuck to her guns well to hold second in a big field of 16.
"Much improved performance which we expected she would put in,” said Clark.
“We are really happy with her.”
Purchased by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing for $400,000 out of the Segenhoe Stud draft at the Gold Coast, Vangelic is the fourth foal and third winner out of the multiple stakes-placed Pins mare Angel Bee, a half-sister to the stakes-placegetters O’Angel and Turnstiles out of the Group III winning Zabeel mare Zabeels Angel.
With a win and five placings from 10 starts, Vangelic has won over $335,000 and can surely find a stakes race to win in coming weeks as the Sydney Autumn Carnival unfolds.
