Sirileo Miss (Pride Of Dubai) winning the Ladies Day Vase at Caulfield

Another New Stakes-Winner for Pride of Dubai

The Symon Wilde-trained Sirileo Miss (4m Pride of Dubai x She’s Sirus, by Galileo) made it four wins on the bounce when claiming her maiden stakes success in Wednesday’s $200,000 Group III Catanach's Ladies' Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield to become the 13th stakes-winner for Pride of Dubai.

Ridden perfectly by Linda Meech, Sirileo Miss took the lead at the top of the straight and was courageous in fending off the challenge of Foxy Frida to win by a head.

Last season she finished third in the Group III Auraria Stakes at Morphettville before a fifth-place finish behind Media Award in the Group I Australasian Oaks (2000m) in May, so was overdue for a Black type success.

“She’s tough. We probably didn’t expect her to be outside of the leader,” stable rep Ben Casanella said.

“We thought Harmony Rose would probably take up the lead and slacken off and that happened.

“They had a chance to beat her in the straight and couldn’t do it.

“We’re chipping away and Symon has put a lot of years into his facility. It’s a wonderful facility on the coast at Warrnambool and the team will get a massive buzz out of this.”

A $60,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Miranda Park draft for her trainer, Sirileo Miss has five wins and three placings from nine starts with prizemoney in excess of $347,000.

Bred by Gary O’Meara, she is a half-sister to stakes-placed Sophia’s Choice and is one of seven winners from seven to race from good producer She’s Sirius, a half-sister by Galileo to stakes-winner Spectrolite.

She’s Sirius produced a colt last spring by Merchant Navy and is booked to visit exciting Coolmore newcomer King’s Legacy.

Sirileo Miss is the 13th stakes-winner for Pride of Dubai, who is great value this spring at a fee of $22,000.
