Another New SW for Churchill
Churchill posted another new stakes-winner in the UK when the Lanwades Stud homebred mare Madame Ambassador (5m Churchill x Lady Jane Digby, by Oasis Dream) won the Listed Rothesay Stakes (1m2f) at Ayr.
Trained by Charlie Johnston and ridden by Joe Fanning, Madame Ambassador came with a well timed run to score a three-quarter length win takin gher overall record to six wins and nine placings from 25 starts.
“I wanted to make plenty of use of her. I didn’t want it to turn into a sprint because she stays really well and was dropping in trip,” sad Joe Fanning. "She travelled well and I always felt I was going to get to the leader. It’s good she’s got another win under her belt for her breeding.”
Bred and raced by Lanwades Stud’s Kirsten Rausing, Madame Ambassador is a third generation homebred for the stud and is the best of seven winners from Group I winning Oasis Dream mare Lady Jame Digby, a half-sister to multiple Group III winner Gateman.
Madame Ambassador is the 23rd stakes-winner for Churchill, who stands at a fee of $19,800 in Australia this spring.
