Promising gelding Merchant Boss (3g Merchant Navy x Plaque, by Medaglia D’Oro) opened his account with a dominant two and a half length win at Morphettville on Saturday at his third start.

Trained by Travis Doudle, Merchant Boss improved on his last start second to power past the race favourite winning the 1550m Benchmark 62 event as he pleased.

A $56,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for his trainer from the Cornerstone Stud draft, Merchant Boss is the fourth winner from Plaque, a placed daughter of Group I Queensland and South Australian Oaks winner Zacheline.
