Another smart 2yo winner for Zoffany
Zoffany has made a flying start with his first-crop two-year-olds and he looked to have another filly destined for big things at the weekend in the shape of easy Salisbury maiden winner Illuminate (2f Zoffany-Queen Of Stars, by Green Desert).
The Richard Hannon-trained filly was described as a “very smart prospect” by the Racing Post as she looked in the early stages of the five-furlong conditions event before coming home two and three-quarter lengths clear of the field.
Hannon won the same race with top-class performer Tiggy Wiggy 12 months ago and he believes the Epona Bloodstock-bred Illuminate will come on a lot for the run.
“Illuminate was not a total surprise when making a winning debut at Salisbury. She has not yet come in her coat, but she had been showing us all the right vibes at home and looked quite smart the way she won going away. Six furlongs should suit her well. She must be nice to have won like that,” said Hannon.
