Aussie Juvenile Stakes-Winner for Tale of the Cat
A brilliant debut winner in November last year, talented filly Calcatta (2f Tale of the Cat x Calchris, by Commands) has taken a while to find her best form since then, but she did so at Morphettville on Saturday when charging home late to snatch a nose win in the Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes.
In a thrilling finish, the Robert Smerdon trained filly nosed out Zellindi and Bring a Ring to win the 1100 metre dash by a whisker to post her first Black Type success.
A $50,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Goodwood Farm for Aquanita Racing, Calcatta has won two races and placed twice from six starts and over $100,000 in prizemoney.
Calcatta is the first foal of stakes-winning Commands mare Calchris and is the 87th stakes-winner for veteran shuttle sire Tale of the Cat.
Calchris has a filly from the one and only crop of Australian foals by champion sprinter Starspangledbanner.
