Battling Waterloo wins G2 Norfolk for Zoffany

Waterloo Bridge (2c Zoffany-Miss Childrey, by Dr Fong) continued an unforgettable Royal Ascot for Zoffany on Thursday when winning the G2 Norfolk Stakes. Ryan Moore waited patiently aboard the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt before swooping to claim victory in the closing strides from the highly-touted Log Out Island. "He's a very fast horse. He loves a really fast-run race on fast ground and this is the first time he's got that,” said O’Brien. "He wants a fast pace, like all those Zoffanys. Fast horses go on fast ground. He might go to Goodwood or something like that." Ryan Moore reflected: “This horse looked magnificent and every one of Aidan's horses this week has run great - you can never discount them. "Waterloo Bridge is a good horse. He travelled the whole way, he picked up and then he had a little look when he got to the front. It's a big crowd, a big stand and things - he has never seen that before. He looks great and has been produced in terrific shape. This horse travelled like the best horse in the race and when I asked him to go and win, he did it really well." Waterloo Bridge was winning two days after Washington DC (2c Zoffany-How´s She Cuttin´, by Shinko Forest)  gave Zoffany another first-crop Royal Ascot winner when capturing the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes on Tuesday. Waterloo Bridge carries the colours of Derrick Smith, who commented: “It's a fantastic win for Zoffany - that's two out of two for Zoffany at the meeting, so we are very excited.”
