Brilliant Debut for Fastnet Filly
Blue-blooded filly She’s a Fox (2f Fastnet Rock x Forest Native, by Forest Wildcat) threw her name into Golden Slipper calculations with a sizzling debut win at Canterbury on Friday night.
The Anthony Cummings trained filly had shown ability in recent trials and was heavily backed in the last minutes before they jumped in the 1100 metre fillies maiden.
She’s a Fox was perfectly ridden by Hugh Bowman and gave her supporters not a moment of concern as she jumped smartly and settled third on the fence before switching around the leaders on the turn to cruise clear for an easy win.
“She’s always shown us a lot at home and has looked the part from the time she was a yearling, so it’s good to see her put it altogether tonight,” said Anthony Cummings.
“She has a very bright future and we’ll look to qualify for the Golden Slipper, so we’ll see how she pulls up and that will decide which qualifying race we go for, but we’ll certainly be giving it a shot.”
A $600,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Luskin Park Stud, She’s a Fox is a full sister to Group II winner and Group I placed Foxwedge being by Fastnet Rock from Forest Native (USA).
The current yearling from Forest Native is another filly by Fastnet Rock that will be offered by Luskin Park Stud as Lot 164.
A stakes-placed daughter of Storm Cat sire Forest Wildcat, Forest Native is shaping as a very good producer with four foals to race for three winners.
