Leinster (Camelot) Wins His Maiden At Down Royal

Camelot Colt Strides Clear On Seasonal Return

Leinster (3c Camelot – Black Envy, by Kingman) made a noteworthy start to the season when running out a clear winner of Friday’s ten furlong maiden at Down Royal.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained colt was sent off favourite under Dylan Browne McMonagle and raced in midfield for much of the way. Making headway with three furlongs left to race, he was ridden to lead a furlong later and ran on well to win by three and a quarter lengths.

The winning rider gave an encouraging debrief, saying, “We went along lovely and he travelled around sweet for me. He would have learned a lot today. He'll have no problem stepping up in trip, he's a nice type.”

The son of Camelot is the first foal bred by Al Shira’aa Farms out of Black Envy, who has a two-year-old colt by Camelot.
