Coolmore Acquire Interest in Boom Colt Rubick
Coolmore has acquired an interest in the brilliant Gerald Ryan trained two year-old colt Rubick (2c Encosta de Lago x Sliding Cube,by Rock of Gibraltar).
He will race for a new partnership comprising of the existing owners and Coolmore, with the intention of him joining the roster of stallions at Coolmore in the Hunter Valley at the completion of his race career.
Coolmore Australia’s Tom Magnier said, "We’ve been looking for a son of Encosta de Lago, who is coming to the end of a great stud career, and we think we’ve found him in Rubick. He’s a particularly good looking individual with unbelievable ability and a sensational stallion’s pedigree so he looks the real deal."
Coolmore Australia General Manager Michael Kirwan added, "The Timeform rating for his debut was extraordinary. His figure of 122+ is already enough for him to rate amongst the very best Australian two year-old colts of the last decade and the freakish natural ability that this horse possesses is a very rare commodity."
Co-owner David Raphael, who selected and purchased Rubick for $460,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale is excited by the new arrangement.
"Gerald Ryan has made no secret of the regard in which he holds this colt – he says he’s the best he’s trained – and as such we’ve been fielding expressions of interest in and offers for Rubick for quite some time," said Raphael. "However, the opportunity to partner with Coolmore, the most successful stud farming operation in the world, was an irresistible one and I hope that we are lucky together."
