Coolmore to Offer Half-Sister by Wootton Bassett to Arabian Summer

A $220,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock Agency, promising filly Arabian Summer won the $250,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1000m) at Ballarat on Saturday bringing the perfect pedigree update for her yearling half-sister by Wootton Bassett being prepared by Coolmore for Magic Millions 2024.

Arabian Summer was stakes-placed at her first two starts earlier this spring in the Group III VRC Ottawa Stakes and Listed MRC Debutant Stakes, so had race experience and fitness on her side.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy trained filly cruised to a soft three and a half length win.

“I think having the benefit of having those two hard runs in Listed grade held her in really good stead. Dropping in grade, walking over the road, on our home deck, she really impressed me today. It’s going to be a hard race to weigh up what level it is, but it’s worth a lot of money, and she was super impressive,” said Tony McEvoy.

“We’ve got to decide now on whether to go north. She’s so professional, and the Gold Coast suits horses that race like her. We’ll enjoy today; let the dust settle and see what happens.”

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Arabian Summer is the first winner from three runners for the talented Street Cry mare Maraam, a half-sister to Group II winner Derryn from the True Blonde branch of the Easy Date family featuring Golden Slipper winner Forensics.

Coolmore will offer the Wootton Bassett filly from Maraam at the Gold Coast in January as Lot 914 and she is one of 39 in the sale from his first Australian crop.
