Explosive Debut for Encosta Filly
Australian bred filly Umneeyatee (2f Encosta de Lago x Moon is Up, by Woodman) scored a scintillating debut win at Vaal in South Africa on Thursday and has obviously inherited some of the talent of her Group I winning half-sister Amanee.
Prepared by Mike de Kock, Umneeyatee is a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and looks another star in the making for this powerful stable.
Sent out a hot favourite, she jumped well and led along the inside before changing gear in the last furlong to explode away and win by eight and three-quarter lengths.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Umneeyatee is a half-sister to Pivotal filly Amanee, who won the Group I Greyville Thekwini Stakes and is one of five winners from blue-blooded stakes-winner Moon is Up, a half-sister to Group I winners Kingmambo and East of the Moon from champion mare Miesque.
