Fastnet Fillies Impress in Sydney and Melbourne

Exciting prospect Dawn Wall (3f Fastnet Rock x Mennetou, by Entrepreneur) raced away for her second easy win in the colours of the world renowned Niarchos racing family at Rosehill on Wednesday.

Prepared by Chris Waller, the daughter of Fastnet Rock relished stepping up to 1800 metres at just her third start, cruising home to win by two lengths.

Black Type assignments lie in the future as Dawn Wall progresses towards the Group I ATC Australian Oaks (2400m) on April 8.

Dawn Wall was a $1.3 million Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for BBA Ireland, whose Adrian Nicoll revealed after the sale that she was bought for a European partnership that included members of the Niarchos family.

"She will be the first horse the Niarchos family have raced in Australia,” Nicoll said at the time and now that first horse is a winner!

Raised and broken in at at Coolmore, Dawn Wall is a half-sister to European Group III winners Osaila and Obama Rule and is the fifth winner from Mennetou (IRE), a three-quarter sister to Group I Arc winner and sire Carnegie from Group I Arc winner Detroit.

Mennetou produced a Fastnet Rock filly last year and is back in foal to him again.

Fastnet Rock also had a smart maiden winner at Sandown with the Gerry Harvey homebred Red is the Rose (3f Fastnet Rock x River Serenade, by Hurricane Sky) opening her account with a commanding four and a half length win over 1400 metres at her third start.

Red is the Rose is a half-sister to Group II winner First Command and HK stakes-winner Oneworld, her dam River Serenade being a full sister to Group I winner River Dove, the dam of Group II ATC Silver Slipper winner Headwater.
