Fastnet Highlights Day One at Premier
He’s leading the Australian General Sires List by earnings, so Fastnet Rock is entitled to be hot and his offspring duly topped the first session of the 2012 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne on Monday.
Top seller was a lovely filly from well bred import Scenario (GB) that fetched $300,000 for Kia Ora Stud when secured by Gary Mudgway and Red Gum Racing.
Mudgway was involved with the purchase of Group I winning Fastnet Rock three-year-old Mosheen from the Inglis Easter Sale in 2010 and said that today's top lot reminded him a great deal of last year's VRC Oaks winner.
The filly from Scenario will be syndicated to race with popular trainer John McArdle.
The second highest priced offering was a colt from Litowinda that made $250,000 for Millford Thoroughbreds when purchased by Anthony Cummings after he was initially passed in through the sale ring.
He is the second foal of a half-sister to Group II winner Si Senor and stakes-winner Bello Signor.
Fastnet Rock finished the session as leading sire by average with six yearlings averaging $156,667.
