Fastnet Juveniles on Fire
Champion stallion elect Fastnet Rock has enjoyed a record-breaking season thanks, in the main, to a superb three-year old crop, however the son of Danehill is also enjoying a phenomenal late season surge with his two-year olds.
There were two juvenile events at Rosehill on Saturday and Fastnet Rock sired the winners of both.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained Sherocksmyworld (2f Fastnet Rock x Solvini, by Bertolini) put a disappointing run atScone behind her when she scored a tenacious short-neck victory over 1100 metres.
It was the second win in five starts for the filly, who had won at Canterbury after placing at Rosehill at her first two starts.
A $200,000 purchase by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds' Julian Blaxland from the Toolooganvale Stud draft at the Magic Millions Sale Yearling sale, Sherocksmyworld is the first foal of the Group III winning Bertolini mare Solvini.
Last start Warwick Farm winner Your Song (2c Fastnet Rock x Zembu, by Fuji Kiseki) became the second two-year old winner at Rosehill for Fastnet Rock with a sparkling performance to score by a length and a half over 1400 metres.
His trainer Anthony Cummings will now plot a campaign aimed at the $1 million Golden Rose for the promising colt.
"He’ll go up and spend 10 days or so at the water walker now and then we’ll bring him back for the spring,” Cummings said.
"Races like the Golden Rose are targets if he takes the next step which I expect he will.”
The Gooree Park Stud homebred is the second foal of the Fuki Kiseki mare Zembu, whose regally-bred dam Wanice is a Mr Prospector half-sister to champion racehorse and seven-time Group I winner Fantastic Light.
