Fastnet Rock’s First Group One Success as a Broodmare Sire
Two of the great Coolmore sires combined to produced high class entire Tivaci (4h High Chaaprral x Breccia, by Fastnet Rock), a fast finishing winner of the Group I ATC All Aged Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
A brilliant son of the late High Chaparral, that has won stakes races from 1000 to 1600 metres, the Mike Moroney trained Tivaci produced a career best performance to charge home and win the weight-for-age 1400 metre sprint by a neck.
Set to retire to Waikato Stud in New Zealand this spring, Tivaci has the overall record of six wins and five placings from 21 starts with prizemoney just shy of $1million.
"We'll have a meeting now as to whether we race on or whether he goes to stud now but I'd say that will be it," Moroney said.
"He's the fastest son of High Chaparral probably in the world, I would think. He's by a great sire and proving to be a sire of sires too so he's going to a great home."
Bred by the late champion trainer Bart Cummings, Tivaci was a $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock from the Princes Farm draft.
He is the first foal of the winning Fastnet Rock mare Breccia, a half-sister to Group I winner Allez Wonder and Group III winner Pretty Pins from Group II Perth Cup winner Luna Tudor.
Tivaci is the 18th Group I winner for High Chaparral and is the first for Fastnet Rock as a broodmare sire.
The High Chaparral sire line continues for Coolmore with his champion son So You Think, now the leading Australian Second Crop sire.
