Fastnet Rocks Inglis Easter Day One
Producing four of the top five lots on the opening day of trade at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, champion sire Fastnet Rock was in red hot demand.
Top seller for Fastnet Rock was a stunning bay filly from stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare Perfect Persuasion that made $1.6 million for Yarraman Park when secured by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
Her full brother topped this sale last year when selling for the same money and her mother, Perfect Persuasion, a full sister to champion filly Alinghi, sold for $2.6 million at this sale way back in 2006.
"She is a lovely filly, she’s the full package,” said bloodstock agent Tim Stakemire, representing the Sheikh.
"We did not think she would sell that high but she was the one we wanted.”
Perfect Persuasion is also the dam of stakes-placed Lady Sharapova and Papillon.
She has another filly by Fastnet Rock to follow and is back in foal to him again.
The second highest priced offering of the session was another glorious bay filly by Fastnet Rock from blue-blooded import Mennetou, who is already the dam of a couple European Group winners in Osaila and Obama Rule.
Consigned by Coolmore, the filly was bought for $1.3 million by BBA Ireland on behalf of a European partnership headed by the Niarchos family.
Other big results for Fastnet Rock on day one were a colt from Saywaan that made $900,000 for Eliza Park International when bought by Coolmore and a filly from Satin Robes that fetched $760,000 for Coolmore when secured by Hawkes Racing.
