Fastnet Weanlings Star in Sydney
The progeny of red hot sire Fastnet Rock were again in keen demand at the 2012 Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale where he provided the top priced colt and filly of the sale.
Star of the show was a cracking bay colt consigned by Coolmore from former classy race mare Bird of Fire (NZ), winner of the Group II VRC Matriarch Stakes and more than $570,000 in prizemoney.
Bred on the same cross as four-time Group I winner Mosheen, being by Fastnet Rock from a daughter of Stravinsky (USA), the star colt was bought back by his breeders Barry and Denise Stokes.
Mr and Mrs Stokes raced Bird of Fire with much success and this colt is her first foal, the mare booked to visit So You Think this spring after missing to Fastnet Rock last year.
The most expensive filly was also consigned by Coolmore and is a half-sister to Group II placed Rahveel being from stakes-winning End Sweep (USA) mare Sarah Vee, who is due to foal again to Fastnet Rock this spring.
She fetched $250,000 and was snapped up by renowned pinhookers Musk Creek Farm, who successfully purchased and re-sold Golden Slipper winner Pierro.
