First Stakes Victory for She's a Fox
A brilliant win at her first run back from a spell last month put the writing on the wall for She’s a Fox (3f Fastnet Rock x Forest Native, by Forest Wildcat) as a future stakes-winner and the daughter of Fastnet Rock fulfilled that potential when bolting away to win the Listed ATC The Rosebud at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
The Anthony Cummings trained filly was heavily backed in the small field of five and always looked to have the race in her keeping.
Eased back after the jump by Hugh Bowman, She’s a Fox travelled at the tail of the field before rounding then up on the turn and cruising clear down the running to win the 1100 metre dash by the best part of four lengths.
“Once again it was a comprehensive win,” said Anthony Cummings.
“She gave them a start and a beating and has a very bright future.
“She’ll go to the Silver Shadow Stakes in two weeks time and then we can decide if she stays with the Princess Series or goes to the Golden Rose and then to the Flight.”
Hugh Bowman was impressed with the filly and will no doubt be keen to stick with her.
“She was a dominant favourite and we were very confident going in,” he said.
“She gave me a great feel in the autumn and now she’s really going on with it.”
She’s a Fox is a full sister to Group I winner Foxwedge, who finished fourth to Manawanui in the Group I ATC Golden Rose last year .
A $600,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Luskin Park Stud, She’s a Fox has won three of four starts earning $158,050.
She is one of four winners from good producer Forest Native (USA).
She’s a Fox is the 34th stakes-winner for reigning Australian champion sire Fastnet Rock and is his first of the new season.
