Group I Goal for Fastnet Filly
Superbly bred filly Miss Debutante (3f Fastnet Rock x More Than Ready, by More Than Ready) claimed a valuable Black Type win at Scone on Saturday in the $150,000 Listed Denise’s Joy Quality.
Prepared by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Miss Debutante was a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when breaking her maiden back in November, but has been raced sparingly since.
A speedy front running winner at Canterbury when resuming from a spell last month, Miss Debutante was ridden back in the field this time by Tommy Berry after drawing wide and the move seemed to suit.
She charged to the line to win the 1100 metre dash running away by two and a half lengths and has the overall record of four wins and a third from six starts with prizemoney topping $176,000.
"She really exploded, it was a very impressive win," Adrian Bott said. "A different style of win.
"We saw her versatility today. She's usually shown plenty of speed in her races but today she was able to settle off a hot speed and I loved the way she found the line.
"A brilliant turn of foot and off that you'd expect her to get over a bit further."
