Group One Goal for Fastnet Rock Colt

Promising colt Bull Point (2c Fastnet Rock x Rose of Cimmaron, by Bite the Bullet) confirmed his potential when turning in a brilliant performance at Rosehill on Saturday to win as he pleased. Prepared by Gai Waterhouse and ridden by Nash Rawiller, Bull Point was sent out a hot favourite for the 1200 metre open juvenile event following on from his debut win at Randwick on June 10 and good last start second to talented Eurozone. Slow to begin when beaten last start and then quite green in running, Bull Point made none of those mistakes this time around, jumping on terms with the field and travelling smoothly just off the pace before accelerating down the running to win by three lengths. It was a thoroughly professional performance that gave promise of far better things to come. “He’s a very exciting colt and I loved the way he did it so stylishly,” said Waterhouse. “He never got out of second gear. He just picked up and kept extending.” Waterhouse revealed the Group I ATC Golden Rose was not on the agenda for Bull Point, who will focus on the shorter sprints with the ultimate goal of winning the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes on Derby Day at Flemington. “He’ll head towards the Coolmore Stud Stakes and wouldn’t it be appropriate if he could win!” Waterhouse added.
