History Maker for Fastnet Rock
Top-class mare One Master (6m Fastnet Rock x Enticing, by Pivotal) loves a trip to France at this time of year and for the third year running was able to win the Group I Prix de la Foret (1400m) becoming the first ever three-time winner of this prestigious sprint.
Prepared by William Haggas, One Master faced some stiff opposition even without the Ballydoyle runners and prevailed to win by a short neck over Godolphin’s entry Earthlight.
“One Master is a fantastic filly and she seems to come good over this track and trip; any ground is good for her but she's particularly good on soft ground and she was given another brilliant ride,” said William Haggas.
“She had to battle it out today. She'll have another run if she's okay and I quite fancy the Breeders' Cup in Keeneland this year for her.”
A homebred for Roy and Gretchen Jackson's Lael Stables, One Master has won seven of 22 starts highlighted by her history making three wins in the Group I Prix de la Foret.
She is the best of five winners from Group III winning Pivotal mare Enticing and is a half-sister to the dam of juvenile stakes-winner Stela Star.
One Master is one of 160 stakes-winners worldwide for champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock, who stands at a fee of $165,000.
