Hot Demand for Pierro Weanlings
Red hot demand for the first progeny of Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO Pierro continued on Monday at the 2015 Magic Millions National Select Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast.
Starring for Pierro in the second session was a colt from stakes-winner Walk Alone that made $280,000 for Rothwell Park when secured by James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of Greg and Donna Kolivos, who raced Pierro.
Bred by well-known Sydney breeder Don Storey, the colt comes from the family of brilliant Group II winning sprinter Rain Affair and his dam Walk Alone is due to foal again to Pierro this spring.
Also popular, the first foal (pictured) of precocious stakes-winning juvenile Assail, a strong bay colt offered by Newgate Farm that made $260,000 when secured by Magic Millions as agent.
Pierro had to bow to the might of Fastnet Rock in the race to be leading sire by average at this sale, but still finished a clear second behind the established champion sire with 11 youngsters averaging $190,909.
