Impressive Win for Fastnet Blueblood River Wild
A six length winner on debut at Kembla last August, promising colt River Wild (3c Fastnet Rock x Romantic River, by Irish River) has been handled patiently since then by Gai Waterhouse and produced a stylish win at Randwick on Saturday.
A three-quarter brother to Coolmore’s former brilliant Group I winning mare Aqua D’amore and full brother to Group II winner Petrology, River Wild sports the Coolmore navy blue.
He powered to the line to win by more than a length over 1200 metres at his second run back from a spell and has now won two of four starts.
“He was very impressive today when he got into his rhythm,” said Gai Waterhouse.
“He was mentally much more switched on, so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards.”
Like his father Fastnet Rock, River Wild was passed in at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and retained to race by Coolmore.
He is the eighth winner for good producer Romantic River, who is 22 and has not had a foal since he was born.
