Greek Gift (Magna Grecia) Gets Off The Mark

Improving Fillies Complete Double For Magna Grecia

Greek Gift (2f Magna Grecia – Shirley Blade, by Dylan Thomas) completed a Saturday double for Magna Grecia when getting off the mark at Carlisle.

The Karl Burke-trained filly was well-supported in the market as she stepped up to seven furlongs and was held up towards the back of the field by Shane Gray. Making headway from two furlongs out, she ran on well when ridden and kept on to lead close home. The winning margin was a neck, with another three lengths back to the third.

The Nick Bradley Racing-owned bay hails from the second crop of Magna Grecia.

Earlier that day at Naas, the Ger Lyons-trained National Lady (3f Magna Grecia – Cheetah, by Tiger Hill) gained a second win from her last three starts.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “National Lady is a big filly and she is really growing into herself. She is a very honest filly and I would have no problem stepping back up to seven.”

Owned by Mark Dobbin and bred by Woodnook Farm, National Lady was bought by her trainer as a yearling for €130,000.
