Emphasis (Magna Grecia) Wins His Maiden At Killarney

Magna Grecia Colt Leads Them Home On Return

Emphasis (3c Magna Grecia – Twitch, by Azamour) made a successful seasonal return on Monday when leading home a 1-2-3 for Coolmore sires at Killarney.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt stepped up to a mile and three furlongs on his third career start and raced prominently throughout the maiden under Mark Crehan. Pushed along from two furlongs out, he was ridden out to score by two and a half lengths, as The Ginger Wizard (Calyx) claimed second. Land Ahoy (Saxon Warrior) made an eyecatching debut back in third.

Owned by Coolmore partners with Westerberg, Emphasis was bought by Jamie McCalmont Bloodstock as a foal for 210,000gns. The first crop son of Magna Grecia was bred by Clarecastle Stud.
