Man, What a Supreme Weekend for Coolmore Graduates!
In Formality, Man From Uncle and Supreme Profit, Coolmore Australia’s nursery at Jerrys Plains produced a trio of horses to score in group company over the weekend.
“The farm enjoyed a spectacular year in 2015, producing 25 individual stakes winners, including the winners of 8 group ones,” said Coolmore Australia Bloodstock Sales Manager Shane McGrath.
“Needless to say everyone was ecstatic when that tally was surpassed in 2016, a year which yielded 26 individual stakes winners and 9 group ones.
“2017 couldn’t have started any better for graduates of the farm,” added McGrath. “Man From Uncle was bred by Brad Crismale and is from a family that has become synonymous with Coolmore over the years, with it having produced the likes of Scintillation, Shania Dane and Risk Aversion, as well as So You Think’s exciting son Northwest Passage. Uncle Mo has had little more than a handful of runners in Australia, but he’s a world-class stallion, as evidenced by the fact that he sired his 26th career stakes winner over the weekend from just over 200 career runners.
“Formality is one of a bunch of smart Fastnet Rock two year-olds from our 2014 foal crop that also included the likes of Catchy and Ephesian amongst others, as well as another top two year-old in Pierro’s daughter Tulip. Formality was bred by Dr Tan Kai Chah, a good friend of Coolmore that raced her dam, Jolie’s Shinju, with phenomenal success. The mare has been an excellent producer to date, but Formality looks like she might be a little bit special.
“The Group Three win of Supreme Profit in Hong Kong on Sunday is fitting given the success that his sire Encosta de Lago has had there. He has reportedly had a lot of injury problems, so he deserves an enormous amount of credit to produce a career best as a six year-old. His breeder, Eric Lucas, has enjoyed tremendous success with Sun Song and hopefully things are going to get better for the pedigree, with Supreme Profit being a brother to promising So You Think colt Kaching,” concluded McGrath.
Coolmore Australia will offer a draft of eight horses for the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, while our draft for the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale numbers 32.
