Mares in foal to Wootton Bassett in Hot Demand
Mares in foal to Group I producing sire Wootton Bassett were in keen demand at the Inglis Chairmans’ Sale highlighted by Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Daysee Doom, who sold for $1.1million.
Consigned by Sledmere Stud, Daysee Doom was bought by Widden Stud / David Redvers Bloodstock.
“She was a super race mare, one we really loved on the track. She’s a gorgeous looking mare, and the foals she’s had she has already shown she can throw a lovely type, her first foal is an absolutely stunning Exceed And Excel foal,” Antony Thompson told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“We could buy her with confidence, she’s in foal to a highly commercial stallion in Wootton Bassett – first season at Coolmore, but already a proven sire. Not only is she a Group 1 winner but she won four stakes races and placed in another six stakes races.”
Other good results came for stakes-placed So You Think mare Word for Word, who made $650,000 to the bid of Sheralee Estate / Clarke Bloodstock in foal to Wootton Bassett in her first season at stud.
Also stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Chequerboard in foal to Wootton Bassett in her first season at stud and snapped by Bruce Perry Bloodstock for $625,000.
Stakes-placed I Am Invincible mare Avenue of Pleasure was another hot seller in foal to Wootton Bassett in her first season and bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) / Longwood Thoroughbred Farm for $550,000.
Two more well related young Fastnet Rock mares Light Fury and The Natural also both made $400,000 with first season covers to Wootton Bassett.
