Merchant Navy Popular at Premier

The first crop of yearlings by Fastnet Rock’s champion son Merchant Navy were well received at Inglis Premier this week with eight of his stock selling for $100,000 or more.

Top seller for Merchant Navy was a colt from Pentolite (NZ) that made $210,000 for Diamond Racing and Breeding when secured by Laming Racing.

Leading Melbourne trainers Mick Price and Anthony and Sam Freedman also secured colts by Merchant Navy, the former paying $170,000 for a Blue Gum Farm consigned colt from Fuhrnatic and the latter teaming with Blue Sky Bloodstock to buy a Willow Park consigned colt from Zeal for $150,000.

His top selling filly at $140,000 was an elegant brown filly from stakes-placed Turnstiles that was offered by Edinburgh Park and snapped up by Andrew Noblet Racing.

All roads will now lead to the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in April where Merchant Navy has 17 youngsters catalogued for sale.
