Million Dollar Filly for Fastnet Rock
Champion sire Fastnet Rock produced the session topper at the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Saturday night with a stunning filly from Ten Carat Rock ending Book One on a high when fetching $1million for Newgate Farm.
Emerging Victorian trainer Brent Stanley secured the blue-blooded filly with his Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds operation linking with CB Bloodstock to secure the prized youngster.
"She's a package racehorse," Stanley said. "You're not just buying a page. When you go and look at her she's a grouse horse.
"She's a top shelf horse. She's a great mover - a great athletic horse with good bone and good muscle - all of the things I look for in a horse.”
The top selling filly was consigned by Newgate Farm and is the second foal of Ten Carat Rock, an unraced Rock of Gibraltar sister to Sliding Cube (dam of exciting young sire Rubick), three quarter sister to Redoute's Choice and Platinum Scissors and half-sister to Manhattan Rain.
“She was a queen of a physical with an unbelievable pedigree,” said Newgate Farm principal Henry Field.
“Brent Stanley backed his judgement and will give her every chance. If she can run, she could be worth anything.”
Fastnet Rock had 30 yearlings sell in Book One at an average $328,333 with this filly his top seller for 2016.
