Mischief Joke Registers Second Stakes Win of Year

Mischief Joke (3c Practical Joke x Shesabitdistorted, by Distorted Humor) registered a second stakes victory on Monday in the Ontario County Stakes.

The colt went off as a heavy favorite in the six furlong dirt race and was taken in-hand by a confident Andre Worrie quickly out of the gate. Around the turn, he collared the leaders and entered a duel for command of the race before leaving the others behind when let go by his jockey.

Worrie didn’t have to do much in the stretch as Mischief Joke romped to a 5 ¼ length win with the third placed runner 10 ½ lengths behind him.

Mischief Joke has finished in the top three in 11 of 13 races for $259,595 in earnings with two stakes victories this year after finishing third in a stakes last October. This colt is trained by Mike Maker for Paradise Farms Corp, Parkland Thoroughbreds, Barry Fowler, and Angelo Carlesimo.

Bred in New York by Pine Ridge Stables, Mischief Joke is out of the Distorted Humor mare Shesabitdistorted, who has produced six winners from six to race. The mare is a full sister to Grade II winner Sharp Humor and half-sister to the dam of stakes winners Eye Witness and More Mischief.

Practical Joke’s six stakes winners in 2024 is 13th best among all North American sires with Justify being the only stallion ahead of him with less crops.
