New Stakes Horse for Pride of Dubai
Exciting young sire Pride of Dubai continued his great start at stud adding a new stakes horse to his tally at Sandown on Saturday when the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Dubai Star (2f Pride of Dubai x Jezzaba, by Fastnet Rock) ran a great second on debut in the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m).
Quick to begin from an outside gate, Dubai Star travelled up on the pace and beat all bar the winner Hanseatic, going down by a length and three-quarters to the Godolphin owned colt.
A $320,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Segenhoe draft for her trainers, Dubai Star was bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, who retains a share in the filly.
She is the first foal of Fastnet Rock mare Jezzabba, a half-sister to Group II winner Von Costa de Hero from Group I winner Piavonic.
Segenhoe Stud will offer the full sister to Dubai Star as Lot 423 at Magic Millions 2020.
Dubai Star is the third stakes horse for Pride of Dubai, whose oldest progeny are two year-olds.
