New Stakes Performer for Yes Yes Yes
A last start maiden winner at Canterbury, the Brad Widdup trained filly Maili (2f Yes Yes Yes x Lanikai, by I Am Invincible) was pitched into Black Type company for the first time at Eagle Farm on Saturday and did a great job against the colts to grab third in the Listed Tattersalls Stakes (1400m).
Ridden a positive race by Reece Jones, Maili tried hard all the way to the line going down by just a length and a half behind talented colts Depth of Character and Steel Strike.
A $300,000 Magic Millions purchase for BK Racing from the Tyreel Stud draft, Maili is a half-sister to stakes-winner Kalino and is the third winner from metro winning I Am Invincible mare Lanikai, who comes from the family of Group I winners River Dove, Captivant and Crown Prosecutor.
Lanikai produced another filly last spring by Yes Yes Yes and is now in foal to Pierro.
Maili is the fifth stakes placed performer for Yes Yes Yes joining Flattered, Nymphadora, Yes Lulu and Let’s Go Barbie.
The Everest winner stands at a fee of $19,250.
