Perotan (Churchill) Wins Her Majestys Plate At Down Royal

New Stakes-Winner for Churchill

The Listed Her Majesty’s Plate (1m6f) at Down Royal in Ireland was won by exciting young stayer Perotan (3f Churchill x Tanaghum, by Darshaan), who scored a dominant win over older rivals as favourite.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the three year-old filly scored by two and three-quarter lengths taking her overall record to two wins as many starts.

“She has got plenty of class,” stable representative Chris Armstrong said after the race.

“Aidan and the team always held her in high regard. She has a very good pedigree and the sire is on fire. We'll step her up now and let her work through the grades.”

Bred by Barronstown Stud and raced by the Coolmore partners, Perotan has a big pedigree being a sibling to Group I winner Matterhorn, Group II winner Bangkok and stakes-winners Tactic and Yaazy.

She is the fifth stakes-winner among 10 winners from 12 foals to race from blue hen Darshaan mare Tanaghum, who is also the grand-dam of champion miler Ribchester.

Perotan is the fifth stakes-winner for Churchill, who returns to Australia this spring at a fee of $22,000.
