New Stakes-Winner for Fastnet
astnet Rock’s amazing run of success continued at Doomben on Monday when talented colt Destruction (2c Fastnet Rock x Storm Signal, by Keltrice) became his 16th Australian stakes-winner of the season after taking out the Listed BRC Dalrello Stakes.
Sent north to Brisbane following an impressive debut win over subsequent Group I place-getter Kabayan (2g Haradasun x Tarlaquena, by Don Eduardo) at Rosehill on May 26, the John Thompson trained colt overcame the heavy conditions to score a three-quarter length win in the 1200 metre event.
Ridden forward from gate one, he led throughout for Glyn Schofield and despite veering out sharply near the line on to runner-up Holey Gadoley, Destruction always had the race in his keeping.
A $240,000 purchase for Patinack Farm from the Westbury Stud draft at the 2011 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, Destruction has now won $126,000 in prizemoney and will be spelled in preparation for the spring.
He is the first foal of Group III winning Keltrice mare Storm Signal, who comes from the family of stakes-winners such as Gold City and Northeast Sheila as well as more current stakes horses Celebrity Girl and Jacqueline Rouge.
The current yearling from Storm Signal, a colt by Fastnet Rock was passed in at the 2012 NZB Premier Yearling Sale.
Storm Signal was covered last year by fertility troubled Starspangledbanner and appears to be in foal.
Destruction is the 33rd stakes-winner for Fastnet Rock, who will stand for $220,000 in Australia this season.
