New SW for Fastnet Rock
Lust (4g Fastnet Rock x Desire Moi, by Galileo) is a work in progress according to his trainer Ger Lyons, but there are more wins in store for the son of Fastnet Rock after he captured the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes (7f) at Naas in Ireland.
His own worst enemy at times, Lust was placed at his first two runs back this year and then scored a length and a quarter win in his first attempt at a Black Type race.
A homebred for Newtown Anner Stud, Lust has four wins and three placings from 11 starts with further stakes races likely to be on the agenda this year.
“Lust is good and tough. He can be hard on himself and is a hard horse to train. He's not an easy ride and Martin Mooney does a great job in trying to keep a lid on him at home,” said Ger Lyons.
“Seven furlongs and stepping him up in class, where there are fewer runners, suits him. Going around a bend is a help to him too.
“He's really a proper miler but doesn't help himself. You're always looking at Irish Champions Weekend and working from there.”
Lust is a half-brother to Group III winner Maker of Kings and is the second stakes-winner for his dam Desire Moi, a full sister to Galileo’s Champion 3YO Filly and triple Group I winner Lush Lashes.
He is the 187th stakes-winner worldwide for champion sire Fastnet Rock and is the 26th bred from a daughter of Galileo. The nick runs at 20% SW to runner!
