One Master is G1 heroine for Fastnet
One Master (4f Fastnet Rock-Enticing, by Pivotal) was the toast of Longchamp on Sunday evening after overcoming an unfavourable draw to land the G1 Prix de la Foret.
Pierre-Charles Boudot was aboard the Fastnet Rock filly, a Lael Stables home-bred, and came from the rear to get up and claim the G1 prize on the line.
Winning trainer William Haggas paid tribute to the jockey and said: “I’m absolutely thrilled. Coming here, the key was to get her to settle which Pierre-Charles Boudot did very well. He gave her a great, great ride.”
One Master had scored in G3 company at Tipperary on her previous start and Haggas added: “She’s very tough and good and we had been running her over six furlongs, but when we went up to seven she won well at Tipperary. I’m thrilled for the owners too, as they have been with me for over 20 years and send me everything they breed. I trained the dam and the granddam, so you can only imagine how proud I am.
“The plan was to keep her in training as a four-year-old, but now she’s won a Group 1 we will have to regroup and see.”
