Pierro ex Dizzy Diva yearling filly

Pierro a Classic winner for Tyreel Stud

Respected nursery Tyreel Stud presented two lovely yearlings by Pierro at the 2020 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on Sunday and were well rewarded when they both sold for $210,000.

A filly (pictured) from well related Starspangledbanner mare Dizzy Diva was bought by John Foote Bloodstock and a colt from I Am Invincible mare Lanikai was snapped up by Star Thoroughbreds / Randwick Bloodstock.

The filly was bought on behalf of a Victorian based client and is closely related to Pierro’s Group I VRC Oaks winner Pinot as her dam is a daughter of Pinot’s stakes-winning half-sister Dizlago.

It’s also the family of Group I winners Dizelle, Danelagh and Vengeance of Rain, so she really has a pedigree that is top class.

“She’s absolutely beautiful and from a very good family. We bred her to Pierro for a reason and the product we just sold was exactly what we wanted for her,” Monds told TDN.

“I am very proud that John Foote saw exactly what I saw in her. She’s going to a Melbourne owner and is staying in Australia, which makes me happy.”

Dizzy Diva was covered last spring by another of the Coolmore sires in So You Think.

The Pierro colt from Lanikai will go into the stable of champion trainer Chris Waller and comes from a very fast pedigree that has delivered the likes of Group I winner River Dove and Group II winner Headwater.

Lanikai has been a regular visitor to Coolmore and has a filly foal by Rubick and was covered last year by Merchant Navy.
