Pierro Most Popular
The Australian Studbook has just released interim covering statistics for 2014 with Golden Slipper winner Pierro the busiest sire in Australia last year.
An undefeated Champion 2YO, Pierro was the most popular first season sire in 2013 when covering 199 mares and was even more popular again last year covering 220 at a fee of $77,000.
An outstanding first crop of foals obviously impressed their breeders and Pierro will have an amazing opportunity to succeed at stud and follow in the footsteps of so many Golden Slipper winning champion sires that have gone before him.
Some of the stellar mares covered by Pierro last year include Group I stars such as Aqua D’Amore, Dariana, Gallica, Irish Lights, Keep the Peace, Midnight Oil, Ofcourseican and Yosei, not to mention Black Caviar’s winning half-sister Belle Couture.
The first Pierro yearlings will be offered at Australasian sales in 2016. Watch this space!
