Promising Debut Winner for Churchill
Returning to Australia this spring, promising young Galileo son Churchill posted a debut winner at Ipswich on Wednesday with the Tony Gollan trained filly Madame Odette (3f Churchill x Cloudwatch, by Snitzel) saluting for a big team of happy owners put together by Flying Start Syndications.
A barrier trial winner earlier this month, Madame Odette was well fancied and scored a half length win over older rivals in the 1200m maiden.
An $80,000 Inglis Classic Highway Session purchase from the Berkeley Park Stud draft for Flying Start Syndications / Pinhook Bloodstock, Madame Odette was bred by Grant Briscoe and is the second winner from Cloudwatch, a winning half-sister by Snitzel to stakes-placed Golden Sunshine.
It’s a fast running family with Cloudwatch being a grand-daughter of brilliant stakes-winner Cloudlet, a full sister to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Zephyrz.
Madame Odette looks a promising type for Churchill, who will have a key runner on Saturday with his quality colt Conqueror (3c Churchill x Dixie Chick, by Star Witness) set to take his place in the Group III ATC Up and Coming Stakes.
A champion miler by Galileo, Churchill has already tasted Group I success as a sire through his top class Northern Hemisphere bred 3YO colt Vadeni and stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
