Maisy (Pierro) winning at Seymour

Promising Debut Winner for Pierro

A homebred for Rosemont Stud, stunning black filly Maisy (3f Pierro x Girl Gone Rockin’, by Redoute’s Choice) made a winning debut at Seymour on Wednesday for Team Hawkes.

Ridden by Jordan Childs, Maisy unleashed a powerhouse finish she sustained all the way to the line to score a long head win over the favouite Luijzika with some five lengths back to the next horse.

"I came back early to let her find her feet," Childs said.

"She relaxed well, and I was able to plot a path through. Once I got out, she pinned the ears back and had a crack, so I think she will appreciate it further.

“She had to dig deep and did, so she is a little trier with better races in store.”

Maisy is the second live foal and second winner for the Group II VRC Matriarch Stakes winner Girl Gone Rockin', who was also raced by Rosemont and produced a full sister to Maisy last October.

Pierro has 21 entries for the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
