Record Priced Rubick Colt Breaks the Ice
As a half-brother to Group I winner and $5.8 million earner Pierata, there has always been a lot of interest in blue-blooded colt Jet Propulsion (3c Rubick x November Flight, by Flying Spur) who opened his account at Newcastle on Thursday.
Prepared by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Jet Propulsion disappointed on debut last month when faced with a heavy 8 track at Canterbury, but was quick to show his true colours on firmer footing.
He led all the way at Newcastle on a good 4 surface to win the 1300m maiden by a length in a comfortable display.
A $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Kitchin Hills draft for T Magnier / Ciaron Maher Bloodstock, Jet Propulsion runs in the Coolmore navy blue colours for a syndicate that also includes various high profile owners and breeders including Rosemont Stud, Kia Ora Stud and his breeder Hobartville Stud.
The most expensive yearling by his sire Rubick, Jet Propulsion is a half-brother to not only Pierata abut also Group III winner Ashokan and is the sixth winner from Group III winning Flying Spur mare November Flight.
November Flight has been a regular visitor to Coolmore and has a yearling filly by Pierata’s sire Pierro and is back in foal to him again.
Rubick stands this season at a fee of $33,000 alongside his Everest winning son Yes Yes Yes at $38,500.
