Rubick Filly Wins Highway Event
A talented filly that was twice stakes-placed as a spring juvenile, Biscara (2f Rubick x Liza, by Strategic) had a change of trainer this year and has blossomed in her new environment winning the $67,500 ATC Highway Handicap (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday.
Now with Canberra trainer Matthew Dale, Biscara was tenacious in scoring a short neck win in the 1000 metre dash on a heavy 8.
A $42,000 Inglis Classic purchase for JHB Syndications from the Southern Cross Breeders draft, Biscara has the overall record of three wins and three seconds from 11 starts earning over $216,000 in prizemoney.
Biscara is the best of three winners from Strategic mare Liza, who comes from the Stage Hit family of Black Type performers including Group I winner Pillaging.
Rubick is poised to be the leading Australian second crop sire following a great season highlighted by his Everest winning son Yes Yes Yes, brilliant Group II winner Rubisaki and stakes-winner Condo’s Express.
Rubick stands at a fee of $33,000 this spring.
