Six Winners for Rubick

Rubick moved to second on the Australian first season winners list after an impressive debut winner on Monday.

Trained in Queensland by Steve O'Dea, Contemptuous (2C Rubick x Contempt, by Commands) made the trip south to Grafton and was never in danger of defeat when sent to the post as a short-priced favourite and led throughout from an inside gate.

Contemptuous is the first foal of Contempt, an unraced daughter of Commands out of a half-sister to Group I Spring Champion Stakes winner Complacent.

He was $100,000 buy for Jamie Walter's Proven Thoroughbreds from the Coolmore Stud draft at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The win moves Rubick to a clear second on the First Season Sires table by winners with six winners from his 22 runners so far.
