Sixth Winner for Pride of Dubai

Leading Australian first season sire by earnings and winners, Pride of Dubai added a sixth winner to his tally at Cranbourne on Friday when True Mettle (2c Pride of Dubai x Helsingor, by Dane Shadow) saluted at his second start.

Trained by Dean Grass, True Mettle was placed on debut behind highly rated Minhaaj, who lined up in the Group III VRC Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington on Saturday and kept her unbeaten record intact.

He franked her form when coming out to score a comfortable three quarter length win over 1000 metres.

True Mettle was bought by his trainer Dean Grass for $26,000 as a weanling at the Inglis Great Southern Sale from the Makybe draft and when passed in subsequently as a yearling by Gippsland Bloodstock was retained to race and has now delivered a quick result.

True Mettle is the first winner for Helsingor, a placed three-quarter sister-in-blood by Dane Shadow to Group I winner Hurtle Myrtle.

A dual juvenile Group I winning son of Street Cry, Pride of Dubai has six winners, five in Australia and one in New Zealand.
