So You Think Debut Winner Impressive
So You Think has sired the winners of over $19million this season and posted loads of top class winners with first starter Think About It (3g So You Think x Tiare, by Flying Spur) showing potential to be one of his stars next season with an eye-catching debut victory at Kembla on Saturday.
Trained by Joe Pride, Think About It had shown good ability in two barrier trials earlier this month and was sent out favourite for the 1200m maiden.
He travelled nicely back in the field for Rory Hutchings and let down with a big finish to surge away and win by two lengths.
A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Proven Thoroughbreds / Joe Pride Racing from the Newgate Farm draft, Think About It was bred by Lightning Thoroughbreds and foaled and raised at Newgate.
Jamie Walter of Proven Thoroughbreds has a great track record for unearthing moderately priced stakes horses and likens Think About It to his Group I Epsom Handicap winner Private Eye, who also broke his maiden as a 3YO at Kembla.
Think About It is a half-brother to metro winner Private Cheetah and is the second winner from Tiare, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to Group II winning sprinter Keen Array.
His grand-dam is by Zabeel and the family features two Group I winners in Hong Kong in The Duke and Sky Field, so there is plenty of quality on the page and So You Think has produced Group I winners from daughters of both Flying Spur and Zabeel.
Tiare was sold through the Newgate Consignment at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $150,000 to Tasmania based Grenville Stud and she produced a Pierro colt for them last spring.
A champion racehorse, So You Think has come into his own this season as a sire soaring to new heights with 149 winners of $19.3million highlighted by 12 Australian stakes-winners headed by his Group I winners Think It Over, Nimalee and Knights Order, the latter pair both trialling in the past week in preparation for spring goals.
Expected to star for him in the new season are exciting colts Political Debate (2c So You Think x Nakataan, by Zabeel) and Illation (3c So You Think x Pontiana, by Redoute’s Choice), so watch this space!
